After 10 years as a designer at Gensler, Marcus Hamblin has created a new venture with fellow Boston Architectural College graduate, Sarah Marchione. Flourish & Foundry brings home goods made only by small businesses and individual makers to the retail and trade markets. The company is bringing connection back to the shopping experience by showcasing the people and process behind the products, allowing customers to find deeper value in what they buy. The approach creates value through story, centering people as you furnish your space or give gifts to loved ones.

Our culture of scarcity compels us to desire the latest trends rather than allow our home to reflect our lifestyle. We are told we must get everything at the lowest cost and fastest way possible. Flourish & Foundry’s philosophy is to slow down and experience a collection of products from everyday items to heirlooms, ethically made and responsibly sourced. You can find kitchen wares, dishes and glassware, bedding, linens for living and dining, locally-made ceramics and candles, and specialty goods and gifts reflecting diverse traditions and heritage. All things encourage purposeful living with low environmental impact.

Previously a salon, the location at 30 Tremont Street has a long history at the heart of Downtown Boston. Formerly The Boston Museum, the address was a theater, wax museum, natural history museum, zoo and art museum in the 19th century. Now an office building with ground level retail, it sits at the edge of Downtown, steps from Beacon Hill and along the Freedom Trail. The opening of the Flourish & Foundry shop is part of a renewal of Downtown as a neighborhood for shopping and entertainment for both locals and visitors alike.

The rich history of this place influenced the design of the interior. Adorned with traditional elements and a fresh color palette, the space acts as a backdrop to both the products and the genuine feeling of being welcome. When customers enter the Flourish & Foundry shop, they often remark on how warm it feels, accomplished by the refurbished original curved reception desk, addition of antique fireplace mantle and barn door, a mix of new and vintage furniture, with new ceiling, millwork, and lighting.

Flourish and Foundry not only sells home goods, but is also a space for events and workshops. The atmosphere encourages folks to connect, and is great for groups of friends, family or colleagues and hosting clients. Learning together with local artisans and experts preparing various foods or mocktails, crafting, arranging flowers, or sharing a meal with conversation proves to create memorable experiences.
