CBT - Entry Level Interior Designer

JOB DESCRIPTION
Entry level interior designer with limited experience; interior design degree or pursuing one. Performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard interior design skills/tasks on small projects or selected segments of a larger project.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Introduced to and supervised in the analyses of interior design and materials, planning and occupancy studies, and limited design layouts.
Following instruction from a supervisor, candidate is capable of assembling the organization and components of an SD, DD, and CD set
Guided by senior staff to aid in design, compile data, do area take-offs, prepare plans/renderings, models, graphic, and design presentations
Guided by senior staff to conduct materials investigations and assemble sample presentations, including layout boards, material boards and trays
Observes design discussion about the development of elevations, plans, and sections at the schematic level
Able to conduct research on FF&E
Able to research trends and assist with data collection as directed
Possess basic digital drawing skills and knowledge.
Possess Revit, CAD, and Adobe/Blue Beam skills
Competence of software used for presentation and studies through multiple mediums
Ability to create diagrams, renderings, and drawings to effectively communicate the design concepts
Understanding of BIM worksets, building content (i.e., families)
Digital file management and standards
Able to print, plot, collate, and assemble a document set
Operates as a draftsman under the supervision of others; including documenting existing conditions, field measurements, and picking up redlines.
Able to take existing drawings and input into Revit.
Able to develop a basic understanding of how codes and standards affect design—including layout of spaces and selection of materials.
Possess a general understanding of the types of finishes and their applications on CBT projects.
Possess a general understanding of the furniture specification process, the components of it, and to whom the specification is sent and how it is used.
Understands the importance of soft skills including verbal and written communication skills.
RELATIONSHIPS
Supervision on a daily basis or when assigned tasks and non-routine work to continually develop a depth of knowledge and skills.
Can multi-task between different duties and projects while communicating the required time to complete tasks to senior staff.
Tasks directed and time managed by others. Able to complete assignments on time.
Limited exposure to clients and contractors.
Begins to develop contacts and relationships with industry reps
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
1-2 years of relevant experience or multiple internships
Interior design or equivalent degree preferred; enrollment in and pursuit of professional certification, registration, or sustainable accreditation preferred.
Revit experience required
Rhino experience is a plus
