Rethinking Office Ancillary

Rethinking Office Ancillary
Keeping Up with the Latest Trends

As businesses continue to evolve with advancing technology and modern design, so too do the trends in office ancillary furniture. During the past year, the return to a more comfortable, inviting workplace that is safer and more homelike drives many of these trends.

One of the biggest trends in office design is the incorporation of flexible work spaces. With the continuing rise of remote work and flexible scheduling, many offices are implementing standing desks, portable workstations, and other flexible options to accommodate the needs of employees. These spaces allow employees to work in the way that best suits them, whether that is standing, sitting, or somewhere in between.

Play Pods by Senator give users control of their office scenery by being a mobile workstation. This flexibility provides preference of proximity, by allowing users to move to meet, or move to have focused, heads down work.

Seeing more breakout rooms and huddle spaces implemented in workplace design provides a place for employees to come together and work on projects in a more casual, creative environment. These areas can also be used for meetings, presentations, and other group activities, making them an essential part of any modern office.

Seen at Neocon in 2022, Haworth's Pergola is a space within a space, providing ultimate flexibility. Having the functionality of multiple different work types happening within the same footprint, Pergola gives users the choice to collaborate, connect or step away, in an open air system.

While office work is changing, so is home office furniture! Lots of companies are branching out to introduce better ergonomics and design for remote workers.

There is also a growing focus on wellness in office design. Features such as on-site gyms, yoga studios, and meditation rooms are being incorporated to promote the physical and mental health of employees. These spaces provide employees with opportunities to take breaks, relax, and recharge; which can help to improve their overall well-being and productivity. We’ve all seen treadmills and exerciser ball at workstations to promote an active lifestyle. Well, Acer has taken it to the next level with the eKinekt Bike to help eliminate the sedentary work life. Outfitted with the appropriate components to keep your laptop and other accessories charged, eKinekt’s app also helps to track your progress while you work.

From flexible work spaces to biophilic design and wellness amenities, these trends are shaping the way offices are designed and helping to create more functional, efficient, and enjoyable spaces for employees. Recognizing the value of providing individualized comfort in the workplace can ultimately lead to higher job satisfaction and better performance overall.
