One of the most significant benefits of membership is the opportunity students get to begin to get involved and network in their future industry.

New England Student Career Day

Our five organizations (ASID, IFDA, IIDA, ISP, BDC) collectively have put Career Day together over the years understanding the value of being a mentor for the future design community in New England. For additional information contact Marion Kassler, Chairperson Career Day, 617.338.5062 x105.

Student Mentoring Week

The IIDA organizes an international student mentoring week held in February of each year. This is a program put together by IIDA Headquarters. Pairs of students will be matched up with a designer in their area on a mutually agreeable day for the opportunity to gain real-life experience in interior design. Non-members of IIDA are welcome to sign up to participate, but first preference in the pairing of participants will go to IIDA Members. There is no cost to participate, and registration forms for students and mentors are available on the IIDA HQ website.

If you are interested in taking a more active role in recruiting volunteers for your area, please contact Erenn Ellermann, IIDA HQ Communications Coordinator or 312.467.1950 x212. Erenn can help answer any questions you may have about this program. You may also contact the IIDA NE VP of Professional Development.

IIDA's Student Newsletter: Custom

Custom is targeted to Student Members, and highlights the learning environment and achievements in design education. Educators contribute informative articles envisioning the future of the design job market, unexplored fields, and emphasize learning. Custom also offers students the unique opportunity to be heard in the Association by writting articles and submitting original projects.

From Custom: IIDA Students Members are enrolled in design schools across the world. The Association recognizes the influence that young designers have on the profession and targets Student Members with the information and events that will begin a successful career.
