MIDC and Allsteel held a private reception before the opening of Allsteel's new Resource Center at 200 State Street in Boston, MA on Thursday, February 15, 2007. The reception honored Senator Michael Morrissey, a strong advocate for establishing Interior Design as a licensed profession within the Commonwealth. Michael has been a key supporter of MIDC's interior design bills for the past several years and feels optimistic that the new administration will be one the legislators can work with.

Rose Botti-Salitsky, president of MIDC, used the event as the culmination of a busy day on Beacon Hill. Rose and a journalist from Forbes magazine spent the day meeting with legislators. They discussed the importance of interior design licensing and of the progress being made towards this goal in Massachusetts. Greg Dunlop, Assoc IIDA and VP of Membership for IIDA New England, hosted the reception in order to introduce Senator Morrissey to professional members of both IIDA and ASID.

Jan Johnson, FIIDA and VP of Marketing for Allsteel presented Senator Morrissey with a framed certificate thanking him for his continued support of MIDC and of the interior design profession. Professional members of both ASID and IIDA attended spending time discussing the profession with both the senator and the journalist from Forbes magazine.
